Rodent Control in St. Maries, ID

St. Maries is a river town with timber on three sides, and both of those put pressure on the buildings here.

Around St. Maries

St. Maries, said saynt MAIR-eez, is the county seat of Benewah County, framed by the St. Maries River to the east and the St. Joe River to the north. Joseph Fisher chose the townsite, just southwest of where the two rivers meet, for a sawmill first built in 1889, and the rivers floated the logs and carried the steamboats. The Milwaukee Road arrived in 1908. Benewah County was carved out of southern Kootenai County in 1913, and St. Maries was named its seat in 1915.

City Hall and the St Maries Public Library are both on W College Ave, and Benewah Community Hospital is on S 7th St. The Hughes House Museum is on N 6th St, the Logger’s Memorial on Main Ave, and the Mullan Trail Park Historical Monument on Highway 5. The lumberjack statue outside the elementary school on Main Street started out as a Texaco “Big Friend”, a Muffler Man from the mid-1960s.

What makes St. Maries different

The housing is largely older and modest, much of it on crawl spaces or partial basements, and a good share of it has been added to over the decades rather than rebuilt - which means the weak points are the joins rather than the original structure. River bottom ground keeps crawl spaces damper than the prairie does, and a damp crawl space with fallen insulation is nesting material with a roof over it. Being surrounded by timber means the pressure is continuous rather than seasonal: there is always a population in the trees, and the buildings closest to the treeline are the ones we are called to most.

How we work in St. Maries

The same five steps everywhere: a free home inspection, finding exactly how they are getting in, sealing those openings in steel and mortar, trapping and monitoring what is left inside, then cleaning and sanitizing. No poison and no recurring contract. The exclusion work is a one-time repair backed by our guarantee.

Our Coeur d’Alene office at 1217 E Maple Ave puts St. Maries a short run away. We also work Worley and Coeur d’Alene, and the wider Coeur d’Alene area.
